About Students for Sunrise at Cornell
Students for Sunrise
This program empowers young people to make a difference in their communities by organizing events, fundraisers, and advocacy campaigns aimed at supporting the mission of the Sunrise Association.
Participating in Students for Sunrise not only allows students to contribute to a meaningful cause but also provides valuable opportunities for leadership development, teamwork, and community engagement.
By working together towards a common goal, students learn the importance of empathy, compassion, and service, qualities that will serve them well throughout their lives.
Our chapter organizes a variety of activities, such as charity walks, talent shows, bake sales, and awareness campaigns, to raise funds and spread awareness about childhood cancer and the services provided by the Sunrise Association.
Students involved in this program have the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the lives of children with cancer and their families.
The Sunrise Association
The mission of the Sunrise Association is to bring back the joys of childhood to children with cancer and their siblings worldwide. Sunrise accomplishes this through the creation and oversight of welcoming, inclusive summer day camps, year-round programs and in-hospital recreational activities, all offered free of charge.
Sunrise Association Day Camps and year-round programs bring back childhood pleasures to children struggling with cancer. Since 2006, our full-summer day camps have been providing memorable summers for children from 3 1/2 to 16, changing months of loneliness and isolation into summers filled with sunshine, happiness, and laughter. Our Sunrise on Wheels program brings the joyful experience of Sunrise to children undergoing treatment in pediatric oncology units of participating hospitals.
